Our Kerala trip

An awesome trip to Kerala,  it's been 10 years since myself and hubby visited kerala .  it wasn't pre-planned trip but just happened within 4days. We travelled from Kozhikode to Thiruvananthapuram.  We took 1200 photos, ate fresh fish, visited many temples - some of them are Guruvayur,Kulathupuzha temple,Anantha Padmanabhaswamy temple  and Attukal devi temple.

We went to Tharavad house at Nunjaloor...This house is over 150 years old built by great great grandfather. In late 1800's many houses in the neighbourhood were burnt during hindu-muslim fight, but this house survived.  Even today the annual rituals and ceremony for the forefather are conducted here.

This house was built by great grandfather, where my father grew up.

Will you believe it...my father is 65years old and climbing the jackfruit tree, he is relishing his childhood days. Ofcourse we got an awesome sweet jackfruit.

Temple elephant... We went to Elephant Sanctuary and got a chance to see elephant parade.
Its so much of fun watching my boy having fun with all kids...
Lush green everywhere....
 Thenmala Dam....
 Way down to the road...
 Bridge built during British's time...

He saying bye to his puppy toy...

Organise your thread.

We are back from 20days kerala holiday .  Awesome trip!  I really don't know where to start....Kerala posting is in my draft box.. I want to talk about place we went, special people we met, delicious food we ate.... I promise, I will come back with my kerala trip photos (God's own country)

You know it, after a holiday there is lot of clean and clear.  I didnt take photo of my sewing studio its very messing.  Life is so easy when things are organized.   Finally I decided to arrange my sewing thread in the plastic box free from dust and humidity. handy to use.

Material required

Plastic box
Cardboard like cereal box
Scissor

My box measured 13"X7" and depth of 3".  I cut the 3 strips of 13" for length and 5 strips of 7" . All the strip depth was 3".

Then cut a V shape leaving 2" to 3" apart in all the strips.

Now place the 7" strip on the 13" strip as per the pic.

The strip is beautifully placed one on the top and then arrange them in the box

Isn't it organised with simple cardboard?

Enjoy making one.

Tea Coaster

My husband painted my sewing table, now its a beautiful white table. I always wanted a studio with white and green combo, but it is very difficult to maintain here.  As you all know me I love tea anytime. I wanted to stitch tea coaster for very long but never happened for some reason. Here Im finally collected all the scrap fabric for tea coaster keeping the white table in mind. Im not a perfectionist, but love to try new things. Here is my first tea coaster and tutorial for my friends.

Materials

3 strips of fabric 2"x  4 ½"
1 square fabric of 5"x 4 ½"
1 square batting of 5"x 4 ½"
1/2" double fold bias tape 18" long approx

Now join the 3 strips of fabric
Remember to give nice press to lay flat
Now it we make a sandwich out of these fabric.

Place the top fabric, batting in the middle and the backing fabric start sewing 1/4" seam allowance around the four edges.

Ok now start sewing from any edge approx 1/4" seam, once you reach the other edge of the fabric, stop and lift the presser foot then pivot the fabric and begin to sew the other side, go on till you reach the center.
Finally step is to attach the bias tape, lets see the trick to attach the bias tape around the corner.  Start sewing the bias tape until the edge, lift the presser foot and fold over the bias tape like a small pleat.  Now place the fabric back under presser foot and sew the bias tape.

Hope I havent confused you... look for the photos...

Once all four corner are done then sew down the tape close to the edge.

Happy sewing...

First sale on Ebay.

I being a busy bee, I realised its been few weeks i blogged. It was time to visit friends, attend baby shower, wedding, and my ebay sale.

I did it!!! I finally made my first sale on Ebay.  I was selling my bag within my friends circle.  Though i registered on ebay long back, didn't actually make a move.  This is the first time i sold my bag on ebay.

I loved this felt silk based outer fabric and heavy crepe lining.

With the bits and pieces I managed make a small clutch for myself.
