Bag for summer camp

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I've whipped up this cute bag last week for my son's summer camp. I bought this fabric a year ago thinking to make bedspread or curtain.  For some reason it was lying there in my fabric cupboard but I figured it would work perfectly for a cute bag. Aryan is more than happy to pose with his new bag.

His summer class holds six different activities, the day starts with Yoga, Art craft, Memory game, Puzzle, Painting and Cooking. He loves going for the classes.  My notion was a fun-filled bag for his summer camp and I just love the way it around out.  It's very roomy to carry his craft work, a spare of cloth, water bottle and snack box.

See? Simple and cute!

Amla Thokku / Gooseberry Pickle

This summer is super hot.  During summer I just fill my stomach with buttermilk.  Rice, curd and pickle is one common and divine food for summer.  I'm not a pickle person.  It just happened that last week I bought some Amla because my son loves to eat it raw.  Few Amlas were left out and I asked my friend Sripriya for pickle recipe (She is a great cook; people out there hop into her kitchen Sri's Kitchen to find interesting recipes). Today I tried amla thokku and it turned out yummy.

Ingredients

Amla/ Gooseberry - 5 -6 nos
Gingelly oil - 2 tablespoons
Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Roasted fenugreek powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Asafoetida - a big pinch
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Red chilli powder - 2 tablespoons
Salt to taste

  • Grate the Gooseberry/Amla, discard the seed
  • Heat the oil and when it is hot add mustard
  • Add asafoetida, tumeric, red chilli powder, salt and followed by grated amla.(Keep the flame in sim, do not burn the masala)
  • Finally add roasted fenugreek powder and continue to cook till the raw smell goes.
  • Cool and store in air tight container.

Ready to serve with rice and curd..

What did you make today?

100th Sale on Etsy!!!

Yay!! I hit my 100th sale on Etsy yesterday!!! Thank you to all my lovely customers.

I started Daffysdream in 2010 exploring the domestic market through Friends, Family, Exhibition, EBay, Facebook and Blog. Although I registered on Etsy in the same year, actually I didn't start selling till Sept 2011.  I did a lot of research on the international market and shipping.  September 2011 I got the confidence to sell on Etsy, wherein my sale on the domestic market was ample.   I was so excited when I made my First sale on Etsy within a few days.  The second sale happened after a month(my friend told me selling on Etsy- International market is very difficult). I took it has a challenge, soon I realized listing the new items on Etsy will not help my sale.  The competition on Etsy is very aggressive.  There are more 500000 search results for the term - "bag and purse". To get noticed among other etsy seller's was very difficult as there is so much of competition.  I did some research and read through the entire Seller handbook on Etsy which is very handy. Sell something you love is a great motivation, but I wanted to sell something different which will stand out from the crowd.  Along with the introducing new products , I improved my Photograph, SEO, Listing and joined the Etsy team and outside networks.   Little hard work and positive attitude did help my sale within a few months.

Etsy is a beautiful online platform to sell my craftsmanship to worldwide.  I absolutely love Etsy!! There is a lot to learn about business and marketing; my tips is do not get frustrated on your business journey. Everyday I get inspired by Other Etsy shop and Blog friend.
Thanks again for all your love and support.

Summer Break!

My computer got messed up, so I thought this is the right time to take a break.  Last two weeks were absolutely busy filled with fun with son's summer break, School annual day, Friend's daughters Baptism, Wedding, Friend's get-together and Summer cleaning.

My sister arranged a trip to Zoo.  Summer was hot, but kids had fun they were all excited to see the animals and had the energy to walk all the way. By afternoon we settle down; found a place surrounded by trees and then it was play-time (we carried ball, freebies, tenni-quoit and badminton).  By the end of the day we were all tired.  Here is my his son's new hair style.

School Annual day event was amazing with kid's programs, they stole the show. Each show was unique in its own way. I missed watching the show fully as I was running around the dressing room to change costume for my son.  My son performed a folk dance, Animal dance and story telling. I'm waiting for the DVD to watch the complete show; which the school promised.

I found my son enjoying going to Wedding party and Baptism.  He keeps himself quite entertained by making friends, playing around and grabbing his ice cream.

Finally flowers from my mom's garden.  Pink flower matching the wall and Lemony yellow rose.

I

Sunday was perfect with special lunch at mom's place and friends coming home for dinner.  And my husband cooked Vegetable Biriyani for everyone(I forgot to take the photo). What more I can ask for a Perfect Sunday?

How did you spent you Sunday?
